How do I activate Siri on iPhone?
Say "Siri" or "Hey Siri", or press and hold the side button. On iOS 17 and later the word "Hey" is optional. You can also enable Type to Siri in Settings, Accessibility, Siri.
How do I activate Siri on a Mac?
Hold Command and the Space bar, click Siri in the menu bar or Dock, or say "Hey Siri" if Listen for Hey Siri is switched on in System Settings.
Do all Siri commands work on both iPhone and Mac?
No. Most work on both, but some are specific to one device. The torch, Low Power Mode and Maps hazard reporting are iPhone-only, while file searches, screensaver control and questions about your hardware are Mac-only. Every command here is labelled with the devices it supports.
Can Siri work without an internet connection?
Some requests run on the device and work offline — timers, alarms, opening apps and basic system toggles. Anything needing information, such as weather, directions, translation or a web answer, requires a connection.
Why is Siri not responding to my commands?
Check that Siri is enabled in Settings, that Listen for Siri is on, that the device is not in Low Power Mode, and that your language and region are set correctly. Some commands also need Location Services or a specific app permission.
